Ales, Wine & Whisky

Wales has a fine tradition of brewing and the range of Welsh beers we stock has been increasing year on year. We now stock over 20 different varieties of Welsh Ales from 6 Breweries. We even have two bottle conditioned beers which are brewed just for the shop. They are, 'St Davids Ale' from the Conwy Brewery and 'St Davids Special' from our local Gwaun Valley Brewery. These are proving a popular choice with visitors who want to take home, ‘A taste of Wales.’

Our Welsh wine comes from the Glyndwr Vineyard. This is the oldest established and family run vineyard in Wales and is situated in the village of Llanblethian in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan. Richard and Susan Norris planted the vines in 1982 and have won many awards. The vineyard produces three white wines, a rose, a red and a vintage sparkling white.

Of course we also stock a wide variety of European and New World wines.

If you are visiting Wales and you enjoy ‘a wee dram’ then you should make a point of sampling Penderyn Single Malt. Named after the village where the distillery is located and nestling in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons it is one of the smallest distilleries in the world and one of the few remaining independent. Water from its own well is used exclusively in the brewing and blending process and the aging takes place in the finest ex-Bourbon and Madeira casks producing a whisky that has smoothness coupled with complex flavours. We stock miniatures, half and full bottles of the golden liquid. We also have Merlyn (a cream liqueur) Brecon Gin & Brecon Five Vodka all from the Penderyn Distillery.
